v2 Refined - Santa's Little Reindeer

We continue to prepare for Christmas in our booths.
This means some great Christmas decorating items and gift giving ideas.

We have a booth in Mineola at La Waffaletta; and one in Jacksonville at Treasure Cove Antique Mall.  If you are ever visiting East Texas, stop by and see what we have stocked!!

The Retired UPS Man's wife has been busy creating some adorable reindeer and sleighs.
She had the Retired UPS man cut and sand the pieces and then she did the rest!

We spent a few hours in Canton collecting all of the sparkles, antler pieces, bells and balls for these cuties.  Felt ears and bows for the girls add just the cutest touch.

And don't forget the itty-bitty tail!
I think she really outdid herself on these!

2 Reindeer & a sleigh for $40.

I even deliver in the DFW area!

v2 Refined - Rocker Makeover Part II

So, yesterday we left you with the nearly naked rocker, just waiting for a facelift.
How did it turn out?  Well, I'm glad you asked . . .

The Retired UPS Man had some help in the recovering process.  Semi-retired sister-in-law Judy came to share her recovering expertise.  (She still works one day a week and we hear about it.  So, we must acknowledge that she is not fully retired.)

The springs were still in excellent shape; however, new foam was a must.
Then, using the old cover as a template, the new material could easily be cut to the appropriate size.

We don't want to get the Retired UPS Man in trouble, but I would be willing to bet he would say working with a sister-in-law creates less arguments than if he were working with his wife.

If asked, he would just duck his head, shake his head, chuckle under his breath, lift his hat, scratch his head and walk away.  No denial and no confirmation either.

Final staples in place.  Tacks in the front add a vintage feel that the rocker needs.

A throw pillow to accent the colors in the new fabric

It is going to be so hard to not keep this one.  The perfect fabric to show off the gorgeous wood.  Gonna have to make sure it ends up in the booth.  I have a feeling the smooth rock and fabulous restoration, this one will not be parted with easily.

v2 Refined - Rocker Makeover

Garage Sales can bring some of our most fun finds.
And some at the "best of" prices.

So was the case with this fabulous old rocker.  It is in wonderful condition with an amazingly smooth rock to it.  Perfect for late nights, rocking new babies.

Previous owner had intentions of recovering, but it had just not happened.  Life was full of young kids and the rocker ended up in the garage for years.

After years of collecting dust, the husband wanted his garage back, so many of the unfinished (and "unstarted") projects were moved off to a garage sale.  Sell it quick and make room for the car again.

Well, the price was right and we had the time to make refine the rocker.

So, we have stripped off two layers of fabric.

Removed the foam deteriorating with age.

And starting from the bare bones of the chair.
Today, we complete the project with new foam and new fabric, already selected.

Check back to see how this rocker looks after a Refined makeover.
